- Precordial leads consist of six EKG leads positioned on the anterior chest.
- These leads primarily capture electrical activity from the heart's ventricles and the anterior wall.
Chest Leads Designation
- Precordial leads are also referred to as chest leads, identified as V1 through V6.
Lead Positions
- V1: Located in the fourth intercostal space at the right sternal border.
- V2: Positioned in the fourth intercostal space at the left sternal border.
- V3: Placed equidistant between leads V2 and V4.
- V4: Found in the fifth intercostal space along the left midclavicular line.
- V5: Located in the fifth intercostal space at the anterior axillary line.
- V6: Positioned in the fifth intercostal space at the left mid-axillary line.
General EKG Lead Identification
- RA Lead (White): The electrode placed on the patient's right arm.
- LA Lead (Black): The electrode placed on the patient's left arm.
- RL Lead (Green): The electrode positioned on the patient's right leg.
- LL Lead (Red): The electrode placed on the patient's left leg.
