Politeness Theory
- The Politeness Theory states that all people have a universal desire to be treated with politeness.
Cooperative Principle
- The Cooperative Principle refers to the shared understanding of how people should cooperate in their communications.
Face Theory
- Positive Face is the desire to be approved of and appreciated by others.
- Negative Face refers to the desire to be free from impositions and to have autonomy to make free choices.
Theoretical Assumptions
- Dialogism refers to a bundle of theoretical and epistemological assumptions about human action, communication, and cognition.
Pragmatics
