Philippine Dietary Guidelines
- The official name of the Philippine's dietary guidelines is "Mga Gabay sa Wastong Nutrisyon Para sa Pilipino"
- The guidelines were published in 1990, revised in 2000 and again in 2012.
- The Food and Nutrition Research Institute - Department of Science and Technology (FNRI-DOST) initiated and chaired the creation of the guidelines.
- The National Nutrition Council approved the guidelines and heads their communication and dissemination.
- The guidelines are for the general population and include information for feeding infants and children.
- The guidelines are presented in the form of a pyramid showing levels of recommended consumption.
- Eat a variety of foods daily.
- Use iodized salt to prevent iodine deficiency disorders.
- The pyramid includes messages promoting exercise and personal/environmental hygiene.
