Study Notes
Air Force Reserve Command
- The Air Force Reserve Command's mission is to train, organize, equip, develop, and administer the Philippine Air Force Reserve Force.
- This force acts as a base for expansion in the event of war, invasion, rebellion, disaster, or calamities.
2nd Air Reserve Center
- The 2nd Air Reserve Center's mission is to train, develop, and utilize the Philippine Air Force Citizen Armed Force.
Department of Air Science and Tactics
- The mission of the Department of Air Science and Tactics is to train and develop high school and college students in the rudiments of military service.
- It aims to produce capable Philippine Air Force reservists.
ROTC Basics
- The Basic ROTC Course consists of one year of military instruction.
- The Advanced ROTC Course consists of two years of instruction and is taken after completing the Basic Course.
- Military Training Instructors can be AFP officers and enlisted personnel (regular or reserve).
ROTC Student Definitions
- Cadet: A male student enrolled in a ROTC course.
- Cadette: A female student enrolled in a ROTC course.
- Evader: A student registered in an institution but failed to enroll in any of the three National Service Training Program components within fifteen days after the regular registration period.
- Active: The status of a student enrolled in a ROTC course and qualified to become an AFP Reservist.
- Deferred: The status of a student who has been granted permission to postpone their enrollment in any of the three components of the National Service Training Program for a valid reason.
- Exempted: The status of a student enrolled in an institution where ROTC is conducted, but has attended a military course of instruction such as active military personnel, ex-servicemen of the AFP with at least six months active duty, enlisted reservists (BCMT graduates), and alien students.
ROTC Leadership
- Cadet Officer: A male student who has finished the Cadet Officer Qualification Course (COQC) or its equivalent and has been appointed as a Cadet Commissioned Officer by the Commander, Major Service/Reserve Command Unit.
- Cadette Officer: A female student who has finished the Cadet Officer Qualification Course (COQC) or its equivalent and has been appointed as a Cadet Commissioned Officer by the Commander, Major Service/Reserve Command Unit.
- ROTC Commandant: The AFP officer detailed to an institution and designated by proper military authority as the head of the ROTC unit.
ROTC Attendance and Grading
- A minimum attendance of 80% of the total number of hours of ROTC training per semester or 15 training days is required to pass the course.
- A cadet who accumulates four absences will be dropped, while a cadet who accumulates five absences will receive a failing grade.
- The final grade for each semester/trimester is computed based on the following weights:
- Attendance: 30%
- Military Aptitude: 30%
- Subject Proficiency: 40%
- Cadets need a minimum of 28 points in Subject Proficiency, 24 points in Attendance, and 24 points in Military Aptitude to pass.
Class of Cadets
- First Class: Second-year Advanced Course Cadets.
- Second Class: Second-year Advanced Course Cadets
- Third Class: First-year Basic ROTC Course (COQC Graduates)
- Fourth Class: First-year Basic ROTC Course (Plain Cadets)

- There are four offense classes, each with associated demerit points.
