- Emergency medical reasons allow pharmacies to transfer prescription drugs between pharmacies.
- Transfers of Schedule III, IV, or V prescriptions must be communicated directly between two licensed pharmacists.
Reporting and Documentation
- A Drug Disaster & Loss Report must be filed with the NC BOP within 10 days of a drug loss or theft.
- Pharmacists must notify the DEA within one business day regarding drug loss or theft, complete a DEA 106 form, and submit the Drug Disaster & Loss Report to the NC BOP.
Controlled Substance Identification
- Delivery personnel must verify ID information from C-II patients at the time of delivery.
- Required documentation when obtaining photographic IDs for C-II includes the person's name, type of ID, and ID number.
- Acceptable forms of identification for C-II drugs: driver's license, NC DMV special ID card, military ID.
Special Considerations
