NDIS Code of Conduct Guidance for NDIS Workers

• The NDIS Code of Conduct is set out in the National Disability Insurance Scheme (Code of Conduct) Rules 2018
• The Code aims to promote a safe and skilled workforce within the NDIS and ensure the rights of people with disabilities are respected
• The Code consists of seven elements that apply to all NDIS providers and workers delivering supports and services in the NDIS
• The Guidance provides information and examples of how the Code can be applied in practice
• The NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission will take a proportionate approach in interpreting and enforcing the Code
• The Code and Guidance apply to all workers employed or engaged by NDIS providers, including employees, contractors, agents, and volunteers
• NDIS providers include registered and unregistered providers, as well as providers delivering Disability Support for Older Australians Program
• There is a separate set of guidance for NDIS providers to ensure their conduct is compliant with the Code
• The Code promotes acceptable, appropriate, and ethical conduct for NDIS providers and workers
• The Code requires workers to act with respect for individual rights, respect privacy, provide safe and competent supports, act with integrity and transparency, raise and act on concerns, prevent and respond to violence, abuse, neglect, and sexual misconduct
• Compliance with the Code requires workers to consider their conduct when delivering supports and services under the NDIS
• Workers should use existing policies, procedures, and training, along with their professional judgment, to comply with the Code's elements
