I think that when she lost her brother was a powerful scene because I can feel the sorrow she feels and you can tell how much pain she had to bear. This part expresses the loss most families went through, especially at such a young age.

The Nazis tortured them and had them in poor living conditions. Gerda was comforted by her friends and what family she had left at the time, and enjoyed what nature gave them and the beauty of it.
What simple things in your own life do you think you'd fantasize about if everything were taken away?
I think I would fantasize about being with my friends, having my own room and privacy. I would also dream about dance or tennis, or family members that I hadn't seen.
