Macronutrients

  • Macronutrients are the building blocks of a diet providing the body with energy.
  • Carbohydrates are made up of sugar molecules and are a primary source of fuel for the brain and muscles.
    • Simple Carbohydrates consist of one or two sugar molecules, making them quick to digest and absorb. They provide a rapid source of energy but can lead to spikes in blood sugar levels.
    • Complex Carbohydrates are made up of longer chains of sugar molecules, taking more time for the body to break down and digest. They provide sustained energy and are often rich in fiber, vitamins and minerals.
