- The wickedness of humans led God to erase everything on Earth, however, he wanted to preserve Noah, a just man, along with his wife, sons (Shem, Ham, and Japhet), and their wives.
God's Instructions to Noah
- God instructed Noah to build an ark of resinous wood, made of reeds and covered with bitumen inside and out.
- The dimensions of the ark were to be 300 cubits in length, 50 cubits in width, and 30 cubits in height.
- Noah was to build a roof for the ark, place the entrance on the side, and create first, second, and third floors.
The Flood
- God was bringing a flood to exterminate all living beings.
- God established an alliance with Noah and instructed him to enter the ark with his family
- Noah was told to bring into the ark two of every kind of living creature, male and female, to keep them alive.
- The flood lasted for 40 days, during which the waters rose and lifted the ark above the earth
Noah and the Dove
- After 40 days, Noah opened the window he had made in the ark and released a raven, which flew back and forth until the waters had dried up from the earth.
- Noah then released a dove to see if the waters had receded from the surface of the ground.
- Unable to find a place to rest its feet, the dove returned to Noah in the ark because water covered the earth.
