Objectives of the Society

  • To nominate members as arbitrators, panellists, investigators, auditors, expert witnesses, or specialist advisers
  • To assist necessitous members and their dependent kindred, including widows and widowers
  • To contribute to benevolent funds or funds from the Society's surplus assets or income

Property and Finances

  • To purchase, hold, lease, let, mortgage, sell, improve, or dispose of movable or immovable property
  • To invest and deal with the Society's monies in any manner
  • To borrow money necessary to promote the Society's objects
  • To contribute to any charitable or benevolent objects, scholarships, bursaries, or exhibitions

Representation and Advocacy

  • To apply or petition for legislation that would further the Society's objects
  • To represent the Society's views to the Government of Nigeria or other bodies on any subject of concern or interest to engineers
  • To provide a body of experts for advice, assistance, or expression of views on subjects of concern or interest to engineers

Professional Development

  • To promote, protect, encourage, and maintain high standards of engineering study and practice
  • To facilitate the development and acquisition of technology through various activities (visits, technical papers, meetings, conferences, publications)
  • To provide for the training and examination of students in engineering and the continuing professional update and development of members
