Content Overview
The National 5 Geography course consists of three main sections:

Physical Environments: This section explores different natural environments, including coastal and glacial landscapes, soils, water movement and flooding, and atmospheric circulation.

Human Environments: Here, students examine rural landscapes around the world, population dynamics, and urban landscapes around the globe.

Global Issues: This part of the course focuses on key global issues such as climate change, health, tourism, trade and globalization, natural regions, and environmental hazards.
Assessment
Assessment for National 5 Geography is divided into two components:
- Component 1: A question paper lasting for 2 hours and 20 minutes, making up 80 marks.
- Component 2: An assignment worth 20 marks, which involves candidates conducting their own fieldwork or research project related to a geographical topic or issue. This component will be externally assessed by the SQA and will contribute to the overall grade for the course.
Progression
Completion of National 5 Geography may lead to progression to Higher Geography or other relevant courses in further or higher education.
