Mozart's Biography
- Born in Salzburg, Austria in 1756
- Parents were Leopold and Anna Maria Mozart
- Only two of his seven siblings survived
- Leopold worked as a musician in the archbishop's court
- Composed his first minuet by age five
- Made a four-year grand musical tour of Europe with sister by age six
- Played for the Austrian emperor and empress, and the King of Great Britain and Ireland by age seven
- Wrote two one-act operas by age twelve
- Primarily worked in Salzburg and composed, from 1774-1777
- Appointed court organist in Salzburg in 1779
- Archbishop was jealous of his popularity, and after a quarrel, he was fired from court in 1781
- Moved to Vienna in 1782 and married Constanza Weber at age 26
- Had six children, but only two survived (Karl and Franz)
- Worked as a freelance composer
- Died of typhus and kidney disease in Vienna in 1791 at age 35
- Buried in a pauper's grave
