Microsoft PowerPoint 2016: Animations and Transitions
- Animations can be used to enhance a presentation, making objects appear, exit, stand out, or move around on a slide.
- There are four types of animations in PowerPoint:
- Entrance: controls how an object enters the slide.
- Emphasis: occurs while an object is on the slide, drawing attention to it.
- Exit: controls how an object exits the slide.
- Motion Paths: allows an object to move along a predetermined path within the slide.
Effect Options Dialogue Box
- The Effect Options dialogue box can be accessed from the Animation Pane.
- It contains advanced options to add more interest and control to animations.
- The Enhancements section allows changing the Animate text setting to By word.
Setting Effect Timings
- The duration of an effect can be changed in the Timing group.
- The Apply to All command can be used to make the presentation uniform, but it applies all settings, including Duration and Sound, to every slide.
Transitions
- Transitions can be added to a slide using the Transitions tab.
- The Sound option can be used to add a sound to a transition.
- To remove a transition, select None from the gallery in the Transition to This Slide group.
Saving and Closing Presentations
- It is important to save work routinely to prevent data loss in case of a crash.
- The AutoRecover feature autosaves a file every 10 minutes.
- To close a presentation, click the Close button on the File Tab or the red X in the top corner of the window.
Creating a New Blank Presentation
- To create a new blank presentation, click New on the File Tab.
- A default presentation template will be opened, and the presentation will have a default name of Presentation 2.
Renaming Objects
- Objects can be renamed by selecting them and typing a new name in the text box.
- The object's name in the Animation Pane will be updated accordingly.
Adding Animations
- Animations can be added to objects using the Animations tab.
- The Add Animation button can be used to add an Exit animation to an object.
- The Timing group can be used to set the Start option to After Previous.
