National Flag Honors
- Institutions of federal, state, and municipal governments must render honors to the National Flag on specific dates: February 24, September 15, 16, and November 20 of each year.
- These institutions may also render honors to the National Flag on other dates, observing solemnity and ritual described in this law.
Flag Protocol
- The National Flag will always be honored before people.
- The Flag will salute, by slightly inclining, other national or foreign flags, symbols of national heroes, and the President of the Republic or foreign heads of state.
- The Flag will not salute individuals or symbols outside of these cases.
Civil Salute
- The civil salute to the National Flag is performed by standing at attention, placing the right hand over the heart, with the palm facing downwards.
- Men will also remove their hats as a sign of respect.
