Subtraction
Subtraction is another operation introduced in third-grade math. It deals with taking away or finding out how much remains when one number is removed from another. For instance, if you start with 10 candies and give away 2, you will have 8 left. To perform subtraction, students can borrow or carry over values from previous columns while ensuring each column has enough digits to continue adding.
Multiplication
Multiplication, which comes after addition and subtraction, helps students understand repeated patterns and the concept of equal groups. If you have 5 pencils and I give you 3 more, now you have 5 x 2 = 10 pencils. Similarly, if you roll a die 6 times, it could land on any side, but since there are only 6 sides, rolling it 6 times means you've rolled each side exactly 1 time.
Division
Division is closely related to multiplication because it involves breaking down large amounts into smaller parts. When you divide by 2, you need to share equally between two people. For example, sharing 10 marbles among 5 friends means each friend gets 10 ÷ 5 = 2 marbles. Likewise, dividing by 12 means splitting evenly into 12 equal shares.
Throughout Maths Class Three, these operations build upon previous knowledge and lay the foundation for more complex mathematical concepts later in life.
