- Seven key elements are: Line, Colour, Texture, Size, Shape, Space, and Value of light & shade.
Line
- Used to define shapes, and forms in design.
- Used to connect or stress words/phrases.
- Used to create patterns.
Colour
- Used to generate emotions, show importance, and create visual interest
- Subtractive (CMYK = cyan/magenta/yellow/black) and additive (RGB = red/green/blue)

- Basic shapes include geometric (circles, squares, triangles), natural (leaves, people), and abstracted (icons, stylizations).
Space
- The area around or between design elements.
- Separates or groups information.
- Used to give the eye a rest, define importance or lead the eye through design.
Value of light & shade
