MacOS Recovery Overview
- Provides a pre-boot environment when the Mac cannot boot from the hard disk's System folder.
- To initiate, press and hold the Power button from a cold boot until "Loading Startup Options" appears.
MacOS Recovery Options
- Select Mac HD to boot normally from the disk with the System folder.
- Hold Shift to boot into Safe Mode.
- Under 'Options':
- Restore from Time Machine backup.
- Reinstall macOS.
- Access Safari for browsing assistance.
- Utilize Disk Utility for tasks like erasing, partitioning, or running First Aid.
