Sound Devices

- Assonance: Repetition of similar vowel sounds (e.g., Men sell the wedding bells).
- Refrain: Repetition of a whole line or lines (e.g., "Do not go gentle into that good night.").
- Rhyme: Repetition of sounds at the end of words (e.g., cat, hat).
- End rhyme: Rhymes at the end of lines.

- Shakespearean sonnet: Three quatrains (four-line stanzas) rhyming ABAB CDCD EFEF GG followed by a concluding couplet (two rhyming lines).
- More dynamic and emotional expression.
- Suitable for exploring strong emotions and managing the emotions for the poet and audience.
Shakespeare's Sonnets:
- Sonnet 18: Known for the famous opening "Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?" Celebrates the beauty and enduring nature of the person being addressed.
- Sonnet 130: A more unconventional sonnet that describes a beloved in more realistic terms, emphasizing love in spite of perceived limitations (e.g., "My mistress' eyes are nothing like the sun").
