Living with Kidney Disease

The main functions of the kidneys are to remove waste from the body, balance minerals and water, produce hormones for red blood cell production, control blood pressure, and maintain bone health.

Some symptoms of worsening kidney disease include feeling tired and weak, having a poor appetite, feeling nauseated, noticing swelling of the ankles, and experiencing difficulty breathing.

When kidney disease gets worse, fluids and waste can build up in the body, blood pressure can increase, the body may produce fewer red blood cells, and the bones can become weak.
