The Pledge and the Principles

The Prophet preached the Faith, and the pledge was taken with 73 men and 2 women.
Al-‘Abbas bin ‘Abdul Muttalib, the Prophet's uncle, asked the Ansâr to defend the Prophet if they took the pledge.
The principles of the pledge were:
- to listen and obey in all circumstances
- to spend in plenty and scarcity
- to enjoin good and forbid evil
- to fear no one's censure in Allah's service
- to defend the Prophet if he sought help and to debar him from what they debarred themselves and their families from

The Pause of Revelation

There was a pause in Allah's revelation for a few days to relieve the Prophet's fear and make him long for the Revelation.
The Prophet heard a voice from the sky and saw the angel who had visited him in the cave of Hira'.
The revelation started coming strongly, frequently, and regularly after the pause.

The Phases of the Prophet's Life
