Johann Sebastian Bach's Life
- Born in Eisenach, Germany in 1685, into a musical family
- Father was a town musician
- Youngest of eight children
- Moved in with older brother (organist) at age 10
- Became an organist at age 18
- Married cousin, Maria, in 1707, had seven children
- Became chapel master in 1717
- Married Anna Wilcke in 1721, had 13 more children
- Moved to Leipzig in 1723
- Became director at St. Thomas' Church and Director of Collegium Musicum
- Gave concerts in a coffee house in Leipzig
- Lost his vision in 1750 and died in 1750
Bach's Music
- Bach’s music was not very appreciated during his lifetime
- It wasn't until 1829 when Felix Mendelssohn performed the St. Matthew's Passion, that his music was recognised.
