Syariah Courts
- Judges of the Syariah Subordinate Courts are appointed by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong (King) after consulting the Majlis Kebangsaan Bagi Hal Ehwal Agama Islam Malaysia (National Council for Islamic Affairs).
- The maximum punishment that the Syariah Subordinate Court can impose is 3 years imprisonment, or a fine of up to RM5,000, or whipping of up to 6 strokes.
- Judges of the Syariah High Court are appointed by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong after consulting the Conference of Rulers.
