    Orientation and Rules

    Rules and Regulations

    Uniforms and Appearance

    • Recruits must possess the following items of Academy uniform equipment:
      • Class A: Black academy cap, black uniform tie, blue academy dress shirt, blue uniform trousers, soft body armor, black leather belt, black leather shoes or military style boots, black or dark blue socks, and name tag.
      • Class B: Black academy cap, black 511 performance polo shirt, black 511 TDU trousers, soft body armor, black leather belt, black military style boots.
      • Class C: T-shirt designated by Academy Director, navy blue shorts, navy blue sweat pants, navy blue sweatshirt, white cotton socks, athletic running shoes, and appropriate undergarment support.
    • Recruits are allowed to wear a maximum of two pens/pencils in sewn-in pocket areas.
    • Recruits must carry a small spiral notebook and Lincoln University Law Enforcement Training Academy Recruit I.D. card when in Class A and Class B uniforms.

    Academic Standards

    • In accordance with Missouri Department of Public Safety - P.O.S.T. Program, Jefferson College Minimum Standards of Academic Progress are superseded by P.O.S.T.
    • A minimum scholastic average of 70% must be achieved for individual written examinations and for the final overall average.
    • Cheating on an examination is unacceptable and will result in immediate dismissal from the Academy.

    Firearms

    • Recruits must successfully complete the prescribed Firearms Training Program as a condition of graduation from the Academy.
    • Firearms are handled only under the direct supervision of Academy staff members.
    • Recruits are not to carry firearms on their persons while off-duty or while in the Academy.

    Physical Fitness

    • Recruits must participate in all structured physical fitness and defensive tactics training programs in the Academy.
    • Recruits must achieve the minimum standards in each of the four events: 1.5 mile run, trunk flex, sit-ups, and push-ups.

    Awards

    • Recognition is given to the recruit performing the highest level in each of the following areas: academics, firearms, and physical training.
    • The best overall recruit is selected by the Academy Director.

    Disciplinary Procedures

    • The Academy has the right to dismiss any recruit prior to graduation for violation of these rules.
    • A written reprimand may be issued when a violation of Academy rules and regulations is thought to be serious enough to warrant such action.
    • Any recruit who receives two written reprimands will be considered on Disciplinary Probation.

    Paperwork

    • Recruits complete the following paperwork: Authorization for Release Information, Statement of Understanding, Recruit and Vehicle Data, and Authorization to Use Photo.

    Photos

    • Photos are taken of each recruit with their name placard in alphabetical order.
