  • White Blood Cell Count (WBC):

    • Males: 5,000-11,000 cells/mm³
    • Females: 5,000-11,000 cells/mm³
    • <1,000/mm³: no exercise
    • <5,000/mm³ or 10,000 with fever: no exercise
  • Hemoglobin (Hgb):

    • Males: 13-18 g/dl
    • Females: 12-16 g/dl
    • Hgb < 8 g/dl: decreased exercise tolerance
    • HCT <25%: no exercise
  • Hematocrit (HCT):

    • Males: 37-49%
    • Females: 36-46%
    • HCT <25%: no exercise
  • Platelet Count: 150,000-450,000 cells/mm³

    • <20,000/mm³: no exercise
  • Activated Partial Thromboplastin Time (aPTT): Intrinsic coag 20-40 seconds

  • International Normalized Ratio (INR): 0.9-1.1

    • 2.5-3: no exercise

  • Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate (ESR):

    • 0-17 mm/hr
    • 1-25 mm/hr: if pregnant
    • 44-114 mm/hr: exercise contraindicated
  • Blood Glucose: 70-110 mg/dl

    • 70 mg/dl or less: give carbohydrates, monitor anything above 100 mg/dl
  • Potassium (K+): 3.5-5.0 mEq/l

    • <3.2 or >5.1 mEq/l: no exercise
  • Sodium (Na+): 135-145 mEq/l
