Korean Drinking Etiquette

  • In Korean culture, age matters in drinking etiquette
  • Pour drinks for elders, not the other way around
  • When clinking glasses, say "건배" (cheers)
  • Take off your hat when drinking with an elder
  • Know when to put your glass down

Korean Table Manners

  • In a traditional Korean setting, rice and soup are placed in front of the diner, with rice to the left and soup to the right
  • Spoon and chopsticks are placed to the right of the soup
  • Spoon is used for rice and soup, while chopsticks are used for other foods
