King David's Old Age
- King David is old and weak, and his servants try to find ways to keep him warm.
- They suggest finding a young virgin to comfort him and keep him warm, and they find Abishag, a Shunammite, who is very fair and cherishes the king.
Adonijah's Rebellion
- Adonijah, the son of Haggith, exalts himself and says he will be king.
- He prepares chariots, horsemen, and fifty men to run before him.
- He is a goodly man and his mother bore him after Absalom.
- Adonijah confers with Joab and Abiathar, and they help him.
