Jury Service Leave Guidelines

Establishes procedures for jury duty leave for Kansas City Fire Department personnel.
Effective from June 1, 2017, and supersedes previous guidelines dated August 1, 1999.

Applicability

Applies to all members of the Kansas City, Missouri Fire Department.
Procedures align with the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the City and IAFF Local 42, as well as the Administrative Code of Kansas City.

Jury Duty Service

Members in a jury pool or those impaneled are not required to return to work on the day of service unless released before 2:00 p.m.
Members summoned but not selected for jury duty must return to work promptly and inform their Battalion Chief or Division Head.

Compensation

Members are entitled to full wages during jury service.
Must sign over compensation (excluding mileage) received for juror duty to the City.
