Jury Service Leave Guidelines
- Establishes procedures for jury duty leave for Kansas City Fire Department personnel.
- Effective from June 1, 2017, and supersedes previous guidelines dated August 1, 1999.
Applicability
- Applies to all members of the Kansas City, Missouri Fire Department.
- Procedures align with the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the City and IAFF Local 42, as well as the Administrative Code of Kansas City.
Jury Duty Service
- Members in a jury pool or those impaneled are not required to return to work on the day of service unless released before 2:00 p.m.
- Members summoned but not selected for jury duty must return to work promptly and inform their Battalion Chief or Division Head.
Compensation
- Members are entitled to full wages during jury service.
- Must sign over compensation (excluding mileage) received for juror duty to the City.
