Journey of the Peacemaker
- The Haudenosaunee (also known as the Iroquois Confederacy) formed over a thousand years ago on the shores of Onondaga Lake, in present-day New York
- The five nations (Seneca, Cayuga, Onondaga, Oneida, and Mohawk) had been warring against each other and had become disconnected from their traditional ways
- The Creator, saddened by the violence, sent the Peacemaker to unite the nations in peace
- The Peacemaker travelled in a white stone canoe, representing the truth of his message
- Hiawatha, grieving the loss of his daughters, joined the Peacemaker’s mission to bring peace and used his purple and white wampum strings to clear his mind
