Rizal's Life in Madrid
- Rizal left Barcelona in the Fall of 1882 and established himself in Madrid, where he took two courses: Medicine and Philosophy and Letters at the Universidad Central de Madrid.
- He also took painting and sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts of San Carlos, and private lessons in French, German, and English.
Romantic Interests
- Rizal was attracted to Consuelo Ortiga y Perez and wrote a poem entitled "A La Senyorita C.O.y P" to express his admiration for her.
- However, he backed out from his romance with Consuelo due to his engagement with Leonor Rivera and his friend Edwardo de Lete's love for Consuelo.
