Purity
- Cleanliness is crucial for prayer, involving both physical purity and purity of clothes and the prayer place.
- Quran emphasizes cleanliness, stating Allah loves those who turn to Him and care for cleanliness (2:222).
- Taharah refers to bodily cleanliness.
- Ghusl (bath) is a full body wash.
- Wudhu (ablution) involves washing specific body parts.
- Tayammum (dry ablution) serves as an alternative in unusual circumstances.
Ghusl (Purity from Major Impurity)
- Needed because of marital relations, wet dreams, menstruation, or childbirth. Must be carried our by washing the entire body.
- Niyah (Intention) must be made to purify from major impurities, then wash hands up to wrists.
- Remove any physical impurities before proceeding.
- Wudhu (Ablution) is Sunnah except for gargling and sniffing water into nostrils, which are obligatory for Ghusl.
- Gargle three times, ensuring water reaches the throat, and sniff water into the nostrils three times.
- Entire body must be washed thrice, starting from head to feet, ensuring no part remains dry, and water reaches hair roots.
- Intention, gargling, sniffing, and pouring water are obligatory steps; missing any renders Ghusl void.
Wudhu (Purity from Minor Impurity)
- It is essential before prayer and removes minor impurities from natural discharges, bleeding, vomiting, or falling asleep.
- Niyah (intention) is made by reciting Tasmiya.
- Wash hands up to the wrists, rinse mouth thoroughly three times.
- Sniff water into nostrils three times, wash the nose tip, and wash the face three times from ear to ear and forehead to chin.
- Right arm washed to the elbow 3 times, followed by the left arm
- Wet palms moved starting at top of forehead, to the back of the head to the neck
- Wet fingers are rubbed into the grooves of both ears, wet thumbs passed behind the ears, before passing the rest of the fingers over the nape
Tayammum (Purity from Major and Minor Impurity)

Iqamah
- Another call to prayer right before congregational prayer.

- Identical to Adhan, but adds "Qad Qamatis Salah" after "Hayya Ala! Falah."
- Muezzin doesn't raise hands to ears or turn face during Iqamah.
- Recited briskly in a normal voice.
Prayer Times
- Five obligatory daily prayers.
- Fajar: From dawn break until sunrise.
- Zuhar: From sun decline until shadow doubles in size.
- Asar: From shadow doubling until sunset.
- Maghrib: From sunset until twilight disappears.
- Isha: From twilight disappearance until midnight.
- These prayers are ordained, binding on every sane believer within fixed hours and must be offered daily preferably in congregation
- Fajr Prayer:
- First prayer
- Start with the break of dawn and end before sunrise
- Muslims must offer 2 units of Sunnah and 2 units of Fardh
- Zuhr Prayer:
- Starts minutes after the sun declines
- Call Zawal
- It prohibited to offer any prayer
- 4 units of Sunnah and 4 units of Fardh
- Asar Prayer:
- Stars from the end of Zuhr prayer
- Muslim offer 4 of Fardh and 4 options of Sunnah
- Like Zawal, time cannot be said at a setting sun
- Maghrib Prayer
- Starts after Sunet and ends at the fading of midnight
- Muslims offer 3 units of Fardh followed by 2 units of Sunnah and 2 of Nafil
- Isha Prayer
- Starts at the fanding light to Maghrib
- Ends at Dawn
- Should before the midnight, offerd before breaking of the dawn
- 4 Sunnah, 4 Fardh, 2 Nafil and 3 Wit
- Should be performed during set hours
Conditions for Prayer (Salah)
