- A computer system consists of three main components: Hardware, Software, and User.
- Hardware refers to physical components like screens, cables, keyboards, and printers.
- Software refers to non-physical components, a set of instructions that tells the computer what to do and how to do it.
- User refers to a person who uses the software on the computer to do some tasks.
Functionalities of a Computer

- Fourth Generation (1971-1980): Microprocessor-based, very cheap, portable, reliable, used PCs, very small size, concept of internet was introduced, and great developments in the fields of networks.
- Fifth Generation (1980-onwards): Ultra Large-Scale Integration-based, development of true artificial intelligence, development of natural language processing, more user-friendly interfaces with multimedia features, and availability of very powerful and compact computers at cheaper rates.
