Anthropology is derived from Greek, "anthropos" meaning man and "logos" meaning study, indicating it is the science of man.
Four major fields encompass anthropology:
- Biological Anthropology: Examines Homo sapiens as biological entities, including studies on related primates reflecting evolutionary links.
- Cultural Anthropology: Focuses on the adaptations and practices of human groups, exploring cultural diversity and social norms.
- Archaeology: Systematically investigates past cultures through their remains, reconstructing historical lifestyles and social structures.
- Linguistics: Analyzes language as a fundamental aspect of culture, often reflecting social interactions and relationships.

Political science explores the dynamics of politics, including the analysis of government systems and political behavior.
Key concepts in political science:
- Power: Central to politics, with Robert Dahl highlighting misconceptions, including:
  - The "lump-of-power" fallacy questioning authority.
  - Confusing power with resources (e.g., equating money with power).
  - Misinterpretations of power linked to rewards and consequences.
- Influence: The capacity of one party to affect the behavior and desires of another.
- Authority: The legitimate right to exert power stemming from established procedures and norms.
- Legitimacy: Acceptance and approval of one's role and actions within a political context, essential for the exercise of political power.
- Linkage: Refers to connections between the public and policymakers through pressure groups, political parties, and electoral systems.

Anarchism: Advocates for a society without government or constraints, emphasizing individual autonomy and self-governance.
Communism: Inspired by Karl Marx, promotes a classless society with collective ownership and equal distribution of resources based on individual needs and abilities.
Socialism: Distinct forms include:
- Fascism: Authoritarian regime with centralized power, suppressing dissent and opposition.
- Capitalism: An economic framework where private individuals control capital goods and operate businesses for profit.

Sociology systematically studies human social behavior, society, social institutions, and relationships among individuals.
It serves multiple purposes:
- As an intellectual pursuit to generate scientific insights.
- Provides a framework for comprehending social dynamics and personal experiences.
- Facilitates career paths in governmental sectors and public policy.
