Seven "Laws" of Information
- 3rd Law: Information is Perishable, meaning its value decreases over time, and there are different types of information with varying levels of useful life, including operational, decision support, and statutory information.
- 4th Law: The Value of Information Increases With Accuracy, as accurate information is more valuable, while inaccurate information can be costly and becomes a liability below a certain level.
- 1st Law: Information Is (Infinitely) Shareable, having a unique characteristic that allows it to be shared without losing value, and its value multiplies when shared.
- 2nd Law: The Value of Information Increases With Use, as information has no value on its own and only becomes valuable when used, and organizations need to know the information they have to create value.
- 7th Law: Information is not Depletable, unlike most resources, as using information generates more information and it is not a scarce resource.
