Infinitive Forms
- Infinitives can function as subjects, objects, or prepositional objects.
- Infinitives can be used with "so as to," "in order to" and "so that."
- Infinitive forms include bare infinitives, simple infinitives, perfect infinitives, progressive infinitives etc.
- Infinitives can be used after adjectives to provide further description(e.g., "It's easy to learn a new language")
- Split infinitives are permitted, meaning "to boldly go"
- Infinitives are used to describe actions that are ongoing or happening (e.g., "to travel the world").
Verb Tenses
- Present Continuous expresses actions happening now.
- Simple Present describes routines, habits, facts, general truths.
- Past Continuous describes ongoing actions in the past.
- Past Perfect describes actions completed before another past action.
Passive Voice
- Passive Voice describes situations where the subject(receiver) is the focus and not the agent(doer of the action).
- Present Continuous passive voice examples include "The letter is being written by her", or "This task will be finished by tomorrow".
- Present Perfect passive voice examples include "This project has been completed by June".
- The passive voice can be identified by "be + past participle"
