Infection Control Categories

  • Contact transmission: Direct or indirect contact with an infected person or contaminated object
  • Droplet transmission: Large respiratory droplets from coughing, sneezing, or talking
  • Airborne transmission: Small particles suspended in the air for prolonged periods

Infectious Diseases

  • Contact: Infections like GI illnesses (C-Diff), wound infections (MRSA), skin conditions (Herpes, Impetigo, Scabies), and VRE.
  • Droplet: Respiratory illnesses such as pneumonia, pertussis, mumps, rubella, strep pharyngitis, and influenza.
