Infection Control Categories
- Contact transmission: Direct or indirect contact with an infected person or contaminated object
- Droplet transmission: Large respiratory droplets from coughing, sneezing, or talking
- Airborne transmission: Small particles suspended in the air for prolonged periods
Infectious Diseases
- Contact: Infections like GI illnesses (C-Diff), wound infections (MRSA), skin conditions (Herpes, Impetigo, Scabies), and VRE.
- Droplet: Respiratory illnesses such as pneumonia, pertussis, mumps, rubella, strep pharyngitis, and influenza.
- Airborne: Highly contagious diseases including measles, TB, varicella (chickenpox), and COVID-19.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
