- The largest single use of sulfuric acid is in the production of fertilizers.
Sulfur Deposits
- Underground deposits of sulfur associated with salt domes are found in the Gulf Coast region of the United States and in Eastern Europe.

- In the Frasch process, superheated water is injected into the sulfur deposit at a temperature of 160°C.
