Amendments to International Health Regulations (IHR) 2005
- A proposal was put forward by Shri Apurva Chandra to establish a single drafting group to consider the matters related to IHR amendments and the Pandemic treaty.
- The proposal was approved by all member states by consensus.
CSIR's 'Phenome India' Project
- The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) announced the successful conclusion of the first phase of its 'Phenome India-CSIR Health Cohort Knowledgebase' (PI-CheCK) project.
- Launched on 7th December 2023, PI-CheCK aims to assess risk factors in non-communicable diseases within the Indian populace.
- The project has enrolled nearly 10,000 participants from 17 states and 24 cities, including CSIR employees, pensioners, and their spouses.
Maximum limit of Retirement Gratuity & Death Gratuity for Central Government employees
- The Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare increased the maximum limit of Retirement Gratuity and Death Gratuity by 25% from Rs 20 Lakh to Rs 25 Lakh, effective from 1st January 2024, when the Dearness Allowance Rates reach 50%.
Amendments to International Health Regulations 2005
- The 77th World Health Assembly agreed to the package of amendments to the International Health Regulations (IHR 2005) based on 300 proposals made by member countries after the Covid-19 pandemic.
- The amendments aim to improve countries’ ability to prepare for and respond to Public Health Emergencies of International Concern (PHEIC) and Pandemic Emergencies (PE).
Supreme Court Mandates Self-Declaration by Advertisers/ Advertising Agencies
- The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting introduced a new feature on the Broadcast Seva Portal and Press Council of India’s portal for advertisers and advertising agencies to submit a self-declaration certificate.
- The certificate certifies that the advertisement does not contain misleading claims and complies with regulatory guidelines.

- A Memorandum of Understanding was signed to create an institutional framework for the Digital Library Platform, Rashtriya e-Pustakalaya.
- Rashtriya e-Pustakalaya is a first-of-its-kind digital library launched in February 2024, aiming to develop a habit of reading and instill pride and curiosity among young Indians.
