Tuition Reimbursement Policy
- The Village offers tuition reimbursement to employees enrolled in job-related educational courses with a percentage of the cost of tuition.
- Only courses that are directly related to employment with the Village are eligible for reimbursement.
Eligible Programs and Courses
- Accredited institution of higher learning (college, university, or technical school)
- Adult continuing education programs
- Professional educational or training companies or facilities
- Courses taken at the doctoral level are not eligible for tuition reimbursement.
Student Responsibilities
- Employees must take advantage of other financial sources, such as grants, scholarships, G.I. benefits, and fellowships.
- Employees must provide certifications of completion with a letter grade of "C" or better or a "pass" grade in a pass/fail system.
- Employees must submit a Statement of Educational Expenses form and tuition receipts within thirty calendar days of completion.
Reimbursement Rates
- Grade "A": 100% of allowed tuition rate
- Grade "B": 90% of allowed tuition rate
- Grade "C" or "Pass": 75% of allowed tuition rate
- Reimbursement is based on the average prevailing tuition rate charged by colleges and universities on the approved list.
Reimbursement Limits

- Bachelor Course work: up to $3,000 per year
- Associate Course work: up to $1,500 per year
Employee Commitment
- Employees must continue to work for the Village for four years (48 months) to receive the maximum reimbursement benefit.
- Employees who separate employment before the Tuition Reimbursement Refund Agreement has expired must re-pay the Village a percentage of the tuition reimbursements.

- The Department recognizes the value of attending seminars or conferences for updating job knowledge, skills, and abilities.
