Applications for Certificate of Fitness
- Applications for a certificate of fitness must be made to a certifying officer and accompanied by the prescribed fee.
Fee Exemptions
- No fee is required for a second or subsequent application in the same year for the same motor vehicle.
- Vehicles owned by the Government, municipal council, local authority (exempted by the Minister), or the Georgetown Sewage and Water Commissioners are exempt from payment of registration fees and fees for inspection.
Issuance of Certificate of Fitness
- The certifying officer shall issue a certificate of fitness if the motor vehicle meets the prescribed conditions as to fitness.
- The certificate of fitness is issued for a period of time determined by the certifying officer.
Revocation or Suspension of Certificate of Fitness
- The Licensing Authority may revoke or suspend a certificate of fitness if the motor vehicle no longer meets the prescribed conditions as to fitness, as advised by the certifying officer.
Certificate of Fitness without Inspection
- A certifying officer may issue a certificate of fitness without inspection if satisfied that the motor vehicle meets the prescribed conditions as to fitness.
