Sharing Google Docs
- Google Docs is an online collaboration tool allowing multiple people to work on documents simultaneously.
- You can share Google Docs via email or a shareable link and set editing permissions.
- Editing permissions include:
- Viewer: Can only view the document.
- Commenter: Can comment on the document but not make changes.
- Editor: Can edit the document, accept or reject suggestions, and share it with others.
- You can share a document with up to 100 users simultaneously with view, edit, or comment permissions.
- If more than 100 users need to access a document, consider publishing it as a web page or only giving editing permissions to specific users.
- To share a document with specific people:
- Open the document on Google Drive.
- Click the "Share" button.
- Enter the email address of the recipient. You can also share with suggested recipients if you use a work or school account.
- Select the access level: viewer, commenter, or editor.
- Add an expiration date (if applicable for work or school accounts).
- Include a message in the notification email (optional).
- Click "Send" or "Share."
- To share a link to a document:
- Open the document on Google Drive.
- Click "Share" or "Share."
- Under "General access" click the "Down arrow."
- Select who can access the file (anyone with the link, specific people, or people in your domain).
- Select the access level: viewer, commenter, or editor.
- Click "Done."
- To unshare or stop sharing a document:
- Open the document on Google Drive, Google Docs, Google Sheets, or Google Slides.
- Click "Share" or "Share."
- Find the person you want to stop sharing with.
- Click the "Down arrow" next to their name and select "Remove access."
- Click "Save."
- To remove a link to a document you own:
- Open the document on Google Drive, Google Docs, Google Sheets, or Google Slides.
- Click "Share" or "Share."
- Find the person you want to stop sharing with.
- Click the "Down arrow" next to their name and select "Remove access."
- Click "Save."
