Endocrine Disorders Causing Glycosuria
Glycosuria with high blood sugar levels can be caused by various endocrine disorders like acromegaly, Cushing's syndrome, and hyperadrenocorticism.
Hyperthyroidism and Glycosuria
Hyperthyroidism and Glycosuria
Hyperthyroidism, a condition of overactive thyroid, can also lead to glycosuria with high blood sugar.

Other Causes of Glycosuria
- Glycosuria with hyperglycemia is seen in several endocrine disorders (see Table 16-3).
- These include pituitary and adrenal disorders such as acromegaly, Cushing's syndrome, hyperadrenalocorticism, functioning α- or β-cell pancreatic tumors, hyperthyroidism, and pheochromocytoma.
- Pancreatic diseases, islet cells, are also associated with glycosuria—for example, carcinoma, pancreatitis, and cystic fibrosis.
- Numerous other causes of glycosuria with hyperglycemia have been recognized.
- These include central nervous system disorders, including brain tumor or hemorrhage, hypothalamic disease, and asphyxia.
