• The academy strives for academic excellence and character development, creating a safe and supportive environment for all students.

Student Success Orientation

• Purpose: Helps students understand school expectations and minimizes misunderstandings.
• Focus: Covers behavior guidelines, school policies, and consequences for violations.
• Enforcement: Violations can result in disciplinary action, including involvement of law enforcement.

Immediate Action Behaviors

• Smoking is prohibited on or around school grounds, including tobacco, vapor cigarettes, and e-cigarettes.
• Theft or burglary of school property or personal belongings is a serious offense.
• Defacing school property, including walls, furniture, and equipment, is not tolerated.
• Throwing any objects, including food, at others is dangerous and disrespectful.
• Disorderly conduct, including inappropriate language, obscene words or symbols, and disruptive behavior, is unacceptable.
• Fighting, physical altercations, or threats of bodily harm are strictly prohibited and will result in immediate action.
• Insubordination, refusal to comply with instructions from school staff or to cooperate with school personnel, is a serious offense.
• Gang activity, including wearing gang-related clothing, displaying gang signals, or being involved with gang activity, is strictly prohibited.

Closed Campus Policy

• Gibson Leadership Academy operates on a closed campus policy.
• Students are not permitted to leave campus during the school day.
• Lunch is provided at school and students are not allowed to leave campus for lunch.
• Parents or guardians must report to the front office and present identification to release a student from school.

Cell Phone and Earbud Policy

• Cell phones must be placed in assigned lockers at the beginning of each day and remain there until dismissal.
• Parents are advised not to call or text students during the school day.
• Violation of the policy results in cell phone confiscation.
• Multiple infractions can lead to disciplinary action.

Nuisance Items

• Prohibited items include: MP3 Players, PSP players, cameras, radios, electronic games, laser pens, water guns, roller-blades, skateboards, water balloons, rubber bands, stuffed animals, and trading cards.
• Consequences for bringing these items to school include confiscation and disciplinary action.

Lockers

• School lockers remain school property and are subject to inspection for health, safety, and security reasons.
• Students are not allowed to share lockers.
• Report any malfunctions to Dr. Petrov's office.
• Keep locker combinations private and never share them with others.
