Study Notes
Nomad Wings Extreme Antenna Overview
- High-performance 5G antenna, 2X2 MIMO, omni-directional, for indoor/outdoor enterprise use
- Delivers 2X data speeds across 600 MHz to 6 GHz 5G spectrum
- Ideal for boosting cellular coverage in retail, office, or outdoor spaces
- Minimalist design, small footprint, high-capacity throughput
- IP54-rated, wall or pole mountable
- Includes low-loss cables for optimal performance and router optimization
Required Tools
- Phillips Screwdriver
- 5/16” Torque Wrench (5 in.-lb)
- 7/32” Drill Bit
- 7/16” Wrench
- Loctite or 3M Red 271 Thread Locker
Mounting Options
- Wall Mount: Indoor installations, use provided bracket and screws, secure to non-metallic wall
- Pole Mount: Outdoor/pole installations, use V-bolt, saddle clamp, and hardware, pole diameter 1.5-2.5 inches
Placement Considerations
- Omni-Directional: Proper mounting for maximum 360° horizontal coverage
- Interference: Maintain 24 inches separation from electrical devices (lights, routers, AC units)
- Signal Path Loss: Avoid obstructions (concrete walls, metal objects)
- Cable Length: Use shortest possible cables to minimize signal loss; avoid sharp cable bends
Installation Steps (Pole Mount)
- Choose location with clear line of sight to cellular tower
- Attach mounting bracket to antenna
- Mount antenna to pole using V-bolt and hardware, tighten nuts with 7/16" wrench
Installation Steps (Wall Mount)
- Use stud finder for stable location
- Drill two 7/32" holes, avoiding metal obstructions
- Attach mounting bracket to antenna & fasten to wall with screws
Cable Routing
- Route cables to router, avoid sharp bends
- Secure cables approximately 6 inches below antenna (use UV-resistant cable ties outdoors)
- Waterproof RF connectors (electrical tape or heat-shrink tubing for outdoors)
Cable Connection Instructions
- Clean connectors with canned air or isopropyl alcohol
- Connect cables to router terminals: CELL 1 to MAIN0, CELL 2 to AUX0/DIV
Commissioning & Testing
- Ensure all coaxial cable connectors are secure and no sharp bends
- Verify RSSI signal strength higher than -75dB
- Ensure cellular connection supports required data rates
Safety Warnings
- Maintain 20 cm minimum separation from antenna (RF exposure)
- Avoid installation in windy conditions or near power lines
