Form 1099-Q
- Purpose: Reports payments from qualified education programs (under sections 529 and 530).
- Calendar Year: 20.
- Copies: There are three copies (A, B, and C) used for different purposes.

- Copy C: For the Payer.

- Gross Distribution: The total amount distributed (including in-kind).
- Earnings: The amount representing earnings from the distribution.

Distribution Information
- Distribution Source: Indicates if the distribution comes from a Qualified Tuition Program (QTP) - private or state, or a Coverdell ESA.
- Trustee-to-Trustee Transfer: A box that is checked if a transfer was made between trustees.
