- An aircraft can drop or spray something in flight when authorized by the appropriate authority and only when it is necessary for the purpose of taking off or landing.
- A flight plan should be submitted at least 30 minutes before departure, or if departing from a designated remote area, as soon as possible before departure.
Communication and Signaling
- Illuminated wands should be used for signaling by ground staff during nighttime hours.
- The UTC (Coordinated Universal Time) time reference should be used in aviation communications.
- Air traffic control clearances should be obtained prior to operating a controlled flight and at other necessary times during the flight.
Right-of-Way and Collision Avoidance
- An aircraft being overtaken by another aircraft has the right-of-way.
- When two or more aircraft are approaching an aerodrome for landing, the aircraft that is already established in the landing pattern has the right-of-way.
- When two aircraft are approaching head-on on the movement area of an aerodrome, each aircraft should alter its course to the right to avoid collision.
- An aircraft taxiing on the maneuvering area of an aerodrome should stop and hold at all runway-holding positions.
Visual Flight Rules (VFR) and Formation Flight
- Changes to a flight plan should be reported as soon as possible to air traffic control.
- An arrival report should include the aircraft's identification, location, and intentions.
- When flying in formation, each aircraft should maintain a maximum lateral distance of 1 mile (1.5 km) and a maximum vertical distance of 100 feet (30 meters) from the flight leader.
- Aircraft should be operated in proximity to other aircraft with caution and vigilance.
Aircraft Operations
- An aircraft can be operated acrobatically only when authorized by the appropriate authority and only when it is necessary for the purpose of taking off or landing.
- An aircraft can be flown in formation in controlled airspace only when authorized by air traffic control.
- An aircraft should land and take off into the wind, and make all turns to the left when approaching for a landing and after taking off.
- An aircraft should observe other aerodrome traffic for the purpose of avoiding collision.
Special Operations
- A remotely piloted aircraft can be operated only when authorized by the appropriate authority and only when it is necessary for the purpose of taking off or landing.
- An unmanned free balloon can be operated only when authorized by the appropriate authority and only when it is necessary for the purpose of taking off or landing.
- Ground staff should provide standard marshalling signals to aircraft, and only authorized personnel can guide an aircraft.
- Parachute descents can be made only when authorized by the appropriate authority and only when it is necessary for the purpose of taking off or landing.
