Location

  • Two types of locations exist
    • Absolute location: Uses grid coordinates like latitude and longitude.
    • Relative location: Describes where a place is in relation to other places.

Place

  • Place describes physical characteristics and human characteristics of an area.
  • Physical characteristics: Landforms, water bodies, soil, plants, animals, climate
  • Human characteristics: Bridges, houses, parks, land use, population density, language, and religion

Region

  • Regions are broad groupings of areas that have similar characteristics
  • Regions are classified by
    • Physical characteristics: Climate, landforms, soil, plant and animal life.
    • Human characteristics: Economics, political systems, and culture.

Movement
