    • HAZMAT Operational Zones: HAZMAT incidents have three operational zones. Exclusion zone (hot zone) is the area with contamination and potential for exposure to hazardous substances. Contamination Reduction Zone (warm zone) is the area where responders enter and exit the exclusion zone for decontamination. Support zone (cold zone) is the area free from contamination.
    • Immediately Dangerous to Life or Health (IDLH): An atmosphere that poses an immediate threat to life, causes irreversible adverse health effects, or impairs ability to escape.
    • Incident Hot Zones: For non-HAZMAT incidents, the area with hazards requiring scene safety practices.
