Vehicle Operations
- Audible warning devices are turned off within 200 feet of hospitals
- Diesel apparatus should be run at idle between 900-1000 RPM under no load conditions for a minimum of 4 minutes before stopping the engine
- Each company has been issued 5 traffic cones
Maintenance Schedules
- Apparatus with booster tanks are drained and flushed once a month
- Oil levels should be checked 5 minutes after shutting down the engine
- Transmission fluid should be checked after 20-30 minutes of operation
- Apparatus that use more than 1 gallon of 50/50 mix within 2 months will be scheduled for diagnostic testing
- Preventative maintenance for aerial ladders should be performed at least quarterly
- All state inspections must be completed 45 days prior to the scheduled date
Scheduling and Operations
- Units will be scheduled for maintenance at 0730 or 1230 hours
- If a unit is going to be more than 15 minutes late, it will not report

Safety Equipment and PPE

- Ensembles that are issued and used will receive advanced cleaning at least every 6 months
- Advanced inspections are done every 12 months
- Components will be retired after 10 years from the date of manufacture or when damaged beyond repair
SCBA and Air Quality
- SCBA will be used at 19.5% or less of oxygen
- SCBA will be used at 35 ppm or more of Carbon Monoxide
- At least ½ of a full cylinder must be remaining for EBSS
- Sleeve of the quick disconnect for the face mask hose should be rotated one-half turn
- Complete SCBA daily form which will be maintained at the station for a period of 2 years
- Acceptable air pressure will be above 90% of the cylinders operating capacity
