The SQ3R Method

- Based on learning through repetition
- Consists of five steps: Scan, Question, Read, Recite, and Review
Scanning (Step 1)
- Familiarize yourself with the study material
- Identify important content, such as:
- Chapter titles, headings, and subheadings
- Figures, diagrams, and tables
- Examples, exercises, and case studies
- Boldface words, introductions, and summaries
- Identify areas of content you already know to optimize studying
- Should not take more than 15 minutes to complete
Questioning (Step 2)
- Write down questions about unfamiliar concepts
- Examples: "What does this term mean?" or "How does this diagram work?"
- Use these questions as a guide to focus on unfamiliar content
- Do not need to answer the questions immediately, as they will be answered later in the learning process
