Final Payroll Advice
- Payment for days worked in the final pay period includes:
- Base salary
- Education/skill pay
- Clothing allowance
- Overtime
- Court time
- Accumulated compensatory time
- Lump sum payout:
- Payment for accrued V-days, E-days, and sick leave
Separation Clearance Procedures
- Separation clearance process is required for:
- Retirement
- Resignation
- Termination
- Leave without pay in excess of 28 days
- Process includes:
- Returning department-owned equipment
- Completing separation documents
- Computing final compensation (except leaves without pay)
- Members may choose to:
- Separate and receive pay for accrued and unused V-days, E-days, and compensatory time
- Use available leave before separation
Termination
- When a member is notified of termination, their supervisor will:
- Take immediate possession of department-owned equipment and ID
- Escort the member to the Personnel Records Section
- Personnel Records Section will determine the actual termination date and pay for:
- Unused or accrued V-days, E-days, compensatory time, and sick leave (if applicable)
Compensation for Unused Leave
- V-days and E-days will be converted to pay at the member's current hourly rate
- Compensatory time and sick leave will be converted to pay at the member's current hourly rate or the average hourly rate over the last three years, whichever is higher
Separation by Death
- Separation compensation will be paid according to the beneficiary listed on the Designation of Beneficiary, Form 311 P.O.
- Accrued sick leave, V-days, E-days, and compensatory time will be converted to pay
- Payment for days worked in the final pay period will be paid on the first pay period following the date of death
- Lump sum payout will be paid on the pay period immediately following
Pay Committee
- The BOPC and FOP acknowledge that the BOPC does not have taxing authority and its overall funding fluctuates
- The BOPC cannot commit to certain pay increases or other major elements of compensation
Educational Incentive Pay
- BARGAINING UNIT EMPLOYEES who have received a degree or college hours will receive incentive pay:
- Associates Degree or 60 college hours: $50.00 per month
- Bachelor's Degree: $75.00 per month
- Master's Degree, Specialist's Degree, or Doctorate: $100.00 per month
Aerobics Program
- BARGAINING UNIT EMPLOYEES who complete one of two designated programs in a six-month period will receive:
- Up to two (2) extra (E) days (16 hours)
- Up to four (4) extra (E) days (32 hours) per year
Bilingual Pay
- BARGAINING UNIT EMPLOYEES certified as bilingual employees will receive an additional $50.00 per month as specialty pay
Tool Allowance
- The Department will provide a tool allowance of:
- No less than $50/month for civilian employees in Fleet Operations
- No less than $120/year for civilian employees in Communications Support (Radio Maintenance)
Out of Classification Pay
- Employees who are assigned to an acting supervisor or manager position for more than 21 calendar days will be compensated at the rate of pay for the first step in the pay scale of the supervisor or manager position
Funeral Leave
- A member shall be granted up to three (3) days of leave with pay to attend the funeral of an immediate family member
Sick Leave Compensation
- Separation by Retirement:
- The balance of sick leave will be paid to bargaining unit employees with at least one (1) year of continuous employment at the ratio of one hour pay for every two (2) hours of accrued sick leave at the employee's current hourly rate
- Separation by Resignation or Termination:
- The balance of sick leave will be paid to bargaining unit employees with at least one (1) year of continuous employment at the ratio of one hour pay for every four (4) hours of accrued sick leave at the employee's current hourly rate
